HISPANIC INDEPENDENT TELEVISION SALES (HITS) BECOMES “HISPANIC MEDIAWORKS”
NEW YORK - - (January 12, 2009) Media giant Cross MediaWorks is pleased to announce the redirection and re-branding of Hispanic Independent Television Sales (HITS) to “Hispanic MediaWorks” (HMW). The strategic move is part of CMW’s plan to create America’s largest and most powerful Hispanic media representation firm.
The move comes immediately after Cross’ acquisition of the HITS business from the trustee in the Interep bankruptcy proceedings. The acquisition positions Cross MediaWorks as the leading representative of Hispanic media.
With the acquisition finalized, the repositioning of HITS to Hispanic MediaWorks allows the company to function with the same high level of service but with the backing of a financially secure foundation provided by parent, Cross MediaWorks. At the same time, the shift in position is the basis for Hispanic MediaWorks to take full advantage of Cross’ deep infrastructure. “This is something that we’ve been putting in place for months.” Says Cross MediaWorks CEO Marc Krigsman. “When we acquired HITS we already had all of the other services in place to support them - fully staffed with Spanish-speaking employees. This allowed us to accommodate the needs of the existing HITS clients while building forward. As a result, today we’re hitting the ground running and plan to build off of HITS successes by developing something bigger and better that the competition can’t touch.”
According to Larry Rubin, COO of Cross MediaWorks, the re-branding of HITS to Hispanic MediaWorks was necessary due to the clutter in the segment. “We knew that with the acquisition of HITS there would be those who would try to attach themselves in some way to the company’s past success. But make no mistake about it, now there is only one HMW and only one HMW that has the financial backing to take its clients to the proverbial next level. Anything else out there is just an offshoot of what we’ve acquired, so why settle for anything less than the original? The repositioning of HITS to HMW is an exciting change that will ultimately revolutionize the future of Hispanic media in America.”
Hispanic MediaWorks (formerly HITS) was formed in 2007 to provide national ad sales representation to independent Hispanic Television stations and networks, helping them capitalize on advertisers' growing interest in reaching that burgeoning consumer segment. HITS represents television stations in every major Hispanic market along with national media that includes 13 cable networks.
Cross MediaWorks is a leading multi-platform media firm that manages an array of media on a targeted and measured basis. Key segments of Cross MediaWorks’ business include representation of linear and unwired networks, long-form and short-form broadcast, satellite and cable inventory as well as video-on-demand and on-line properties. In addition, CMW provides a full array of creative services and “go-to-market” strategies for companies in a variety of industries. With the addition of HITS, now HMW, Cross MediaWorks becomes the nation’s largest Hispanic media representation firm under the brand Hispanic MediaWorks.
